What do you prefer? :phone:

Growing up without a mobile phone until I was about 20, I was so used to talking on the phone because it was the only option I ever had. When this whole "texting" thing started getting popular, I hated it. Now its 8 years later and I find myself texting more than talking. I guess I've embraced it, but I'll still just call someone if I feel a text convo is taking too long. You can be texting back and forth for an hour when you could have accomplished the same conversation verbally in 5 minutes.

I have never texted anyone. If I have something to be said, I just pick up the phone and say it. Way faster, in my opinion, than going back and forth. Not only that I HATE text abbreviations. Half the time, I have no clue what the person is even trying to say.

I only text when the message isn't time dependent.

If I need an immediate answer, it's a voice call.

That reminds me of the other day when my daughter's mom was texting me asking me if our daughter can go to a birthday party & I'll pick her up from the party when I got off work. Anyway I guess she was talking to the birthday kid's mom and was wanting an immediate answer from me. I didn't see my phone until about 10 minutes later where I read the initial text message and then like 3 angry ones after that mad at me for not answering. She could have called me! I would have hear the phone ringing and she would have got her answer immediately.

Being a teenager, I like texting but do find it annoying sometimes. There's been so many times that I've misinterpreted something someone sent me and it just leads to confusion. But it's so convenient and the fact that you can text while doing other things is nice.

Calling is cool but I don't do it very often.

Yeah its hard to read tone of voice through typed out letters.

Communicating through the written word has its advantages... but I can't type at any sort of speed on a phone <.<

I just texted a friend right now, heh!

I wasn't all into texting at first, when I got my first phone five years ago. I do it much more often now though, since a lot of times I want to say something that isn't worth making a whole phone call for, maybe just a few lines. Also, since my service allows unlimited texting, well, I might as well take advantage of it.

I do believe talking on the phone is more personable though, and absolutely essential with strangers.

yeah texting kind of forces its way on you even if you dont like it a first.

Do you have a smart phone EE?
Yes and touch screens definitely beat those older phones when it comes to typing. *remembers how it took ages to type out anything.* However, I prefer to type with more than two fingers at a time.

I prefer silence actually but if I must converse with my fellow human beings then I will talk because I couldn't stand to type on a phone. It sounds as thrilling as it was to attempt to create a tweet which took around a half hour because I had to dumb down an educated remark into idiot type also known as leet in order for twitter to accept it. I probably take far longer to converse with text then I would if I just said it plus I don't have anyone who I could text to anyway so it would be pointless to do anything but talk.
