Teach our kids this!

I never said we shouldn't teach gun safety, but rather giving examples of why some people who believe we shouldn't.  I'm of the mindset that we don't need to make gun safety a core class in school or even an elective, however, because to me a gun is a tool for death.  Cars are not tools for death and neither are swimming pools.  They are both completely different things that make our lives either easier and/or for enrichment.  They do come with their dangers, but their main purpose is not to make killing things easier and at a higher rate.  And while guns can be used for sport like target practice in a nonlethal manner, that was not the intent.

My belief on the matter is 1000% that PARENTS should be the ones to decide whether they want their children to be schooled on the matter gun safety and usage, not public schools.

There are 253 million cars in America and Since we Americans have more guns then cars at 270 million guns in private homes making us the best armed country for private citizens. Yes I believe it should be a mandatory class in our schools.

I know you do.  You've made your opinion very, very clear.  I got the message many posts ago. xD But that has not nor will it ever sway my opinion on the matter and I know mine won't sway yours. This is why some discussions eventually end up being rather pointless. It feels like we're going in circles.

Thats kind of like saying since there are so many car accidents among teenagers who do not use common sense before driving we should not teach safe driving habits to any of them.

Or because so many little children die in pools from drowning in Florida every year we should not allow kids to learn how to swim safely.

those examples are still up to the parents to teach, not the schools...

the schools are there to try to educate children of school matters, not exposing children to dangerous weapons when some parents would be against it...

if you want to teach your child how to shoot a gun and what-not then it's your issue, not the school's teacher's issue...

Well, to be honest, schools are there to educate students on important matters that apply to the society they live in. Here in America, it is typically not necessary that we are school in the matter of using weapons. Those come secondary. Why? Because in this day in age, having and using a weapon is not a requirement to live. We are long beyond the days when survival mattered the most. Now it is about how to obtain a job or what you'll do after you're done with secondary school. However, with a nation so obsessed with firearms and our "rights" surrounding them, issues like this crop up and are constantly argued over.

i'm not convinced that our youth needs that type of education when our education and system is already falling behind other countries in this world... and all the schools closing down and teachers being laid off... but yes, lets spend money on a useless class like gun safety when it's the parents job to choose if they want their children to be exposed to guns or not...

america needs to stop worrying about nonsense and worry about important things, like government corruption, wars, and the federal reserve...

I have to agree with you here. We could be focusing our efforts on better reading and writing, mathematical and scientific scores (and not just scores, but mastery of skills). We are so far behind some other countries, it's pathetic. And yet teachers are being laid off left and right, schools are coming up over budget, can't even keep classes like art or physical education, which I think is much more important than gun safety. It's the parent's job to raise their children how they want to be raised, not the job of the school to raise children. Rather, the school must help nurture them while the main responsibility falls on the parents.

True so lets save money by getting rid of common core which intentionally creates dumb and I will comply children. Stop using our money in schools for handing out condoms and such. Remember parents responsibility. Stop with the free lunch programs. Because again parents responsibility. Cut the staffs in half that are hired and have nothing to do with teaching in all our counties across America. And I could create a list of the waste being done but those alone would give more then enough money to teach safety on what is a American right and very important to most Americans.
