I read an article that states while teen violence can be partly blamed on tv, video games, and music there are other factors that have to be considered as well.

Violence is a learned behavior. Children learn violent behaviors from their family and peers, as well as observe it in their neighborhoods and in the community at large. These behaviors are reinforced by what youth see on television, on the Internet, in video games, movies, music videos, and what they hear in their music.

Do you agree or disagree with the content in bold?

Yeah. Being a teenager myself, I can tell you that it does have a majour role in how violent some teenagers can be.

What kind of stuff is he quoting?

Violence amongst males is normal. Its natural instinct for some to want to be the dominate / alpha male and try to prove it in any situation possible.

*puts on a mysterious voice* Ahhh... But is it?

I've just done this kind of debate in psychology, and some people believe that how we behave is all down to the enviroment that we are brought into, so violence could be learned not natural. But then there's the other side of the debate that behaviour is instinctual and that the enviroment has no impact on how we behave, so violence is innate. Then there's the people who sit on the fence and say that behaviour is a mixture of both, and that violence could be innate but the enviroment (violent games etc) is a majour influence.

Me, personally, agrees with the people who sit on the fence. Most teens that I see hanging around the streetx live in rough areas and probably think violence is alright. Violent games like Modern Warfare and stuff like that basically reinforce that it's ok to be violent.

Yes, on one level. Most people who play violent video games will be affected in some way, as in having the perspective on killing and violence changed into thinking it's alright (in war, defense, etc.). Only the people who have... let's say over-reactive imaginations or some kind of mental problem will actually apply what they see and do in a video game to real life. Thus, people like the Virginia Tech massacre, and others related to it, come into light and actually ACT violent. Other than that, most normal gamers will have self-control. IMO.
