No games look scary imo. The scariest part of horror games is the music that constantly keeps you on edge.
 
I've played a large majority of those and i can honestly say while they may scare you, i was more scared at how horrible the controls were in some of them and how the story tends to bore you to tears.



Amnesia is actually one of the few games i would truly recommend if you're a horror/survival fan just because its not your average game.
 
I've constantly heard praisings from The Suffering, I've never particularly been able to fully comprehend what exactly is so horrifying about the game. I understand that it was partially formulated by Clive Barker, who brought us Hellraiser, but at the same time, I also understand that he brought us Jericho, which wasn't the least bit frightning either. Speaking of Clive Barker, Undying was also on the list, and the same thing can be said about it. As for Amnesia, I've actually heard commendable things regarding the game even if I haven't gotten the chance to play it. You can't actually kill the creatures in the game forcing you to feel much more vulnerable than in previous games. Something about the horror genre whilst has been frequently enjoyable has been relatively lacking in terms of depth, it seems like individuals focus entirely upon constructing a dementedly chilling monstrocity as opposed to establishing genuine fear. I guess it's fine, I mean, having menacing creatures in terms of appearance is a prominent attribute in any video-game but as the same time, the psychological aspects are what makes a video game scary in my opinion. People usually bring up Dead Space when they're talking about frightening games, I understand why, but I still think BioShock mastered being frightening more than any other, at least during the first playthrough. I've said it before, but something about being stripped of information and being forced to establish methods for dealing with the beasts was frightening. The creatures were huge, and menacing, but they were also cleverly destructive and were something that would stay in your mind.
