A self-professed geek has created an online atlas of the world's rudest place names.

Londoner Gary Gale collected the world's most amusingly puerile place names all on one website, reports the Daily Telegraph.

It contains hundreds of ludicrously immature road, town and village names, all plotted on an eye-catching map.

British contributions include Pratt's Bottom in Orpington, Andrews Knob in Cheshire, Wetwang in Yorkshire and Ringrash Road in Northern Ireland.

The US offers Hooker in Oklahoma, Climax in Colorado, and Mianus in Connecticut - which famously featured in Jackass: the Movie.

And then there's the Albanian village of Crap, the Algerian settlement of Tit, Anus in the Philippines and countless more examples.

Mr Gale, who describes himself as a geo-technologist and self professed geek with a life, published his unusual atlas online at http://maps.geotastic.org/rude/.

I've had a lifelong love affair with maps since discovering the Harry Beck map of the London Underground on the back of the London A-Z street atlas at an early age, he said.

Must admit some of these names got a chuckle out of me.
