Do you personally trust the cops in your area? Why or why not?
 
In our town (village). Yes. I know several of them, and have found them all to be 'good guys'. My father knows the police chief and says he is one of the best the police force has had.

The County Sheriffs office seems to be made up of some more questionable sorts, but overall, so far, I've not seen any evidence that the number of 'bad deputies' outnumber the 'good deputies'.

I haven't even met any of the State Police assigned to this district. And if it is all the same to you, I'd rather keep it that way.

Now, having said that.....

Five miles up the road in the City? Hell no, and I actively try to avoid going into the city after dark or during peak traffic times. Both because of the rampant criminal element on the street, and the ones driving the fancy "public safety" cars.
