We're living in modern times, the bill can be split. Though for my first I offered to pay if she followed up with the entertainment pay, which was a few rounds of bowling.
I believe that whoever asks the other person out, pays. It doesn’t matter if it is a man or a woman. There is a reason why I say this. Let’s say A and B are all set to go on a date. A is doing really well and dining at pricey Michelin star restaurants isn’t a big deal for A. However B is a student, and cannot afford the same. In this case, splitting the bill is not fair. A can afford it, he/ she wants to go there, so he/she asks the other person out, and pays for the date.
Additionally I also believe that if a person wants to ask the other person out, but can afford a restaurant of a certain budget or a restaurant in a certain area, then he/she picks the place himself/ herself, after making sure that the restaurant isn’t too far from his/ her date’s residence, unless of course the date is being fetched and is okay with it.
Alternatively, if budget or location isn’t a problem, then he/she can ask his/ her date to pick a place, and just go there.
Similarly B can pick a place for their next date, and pay for it. They can take turns. Whoever plans and asks the other person out, pays.
I believe that taking turns to pay is the best way to date.

My mother raised me to believe that it is formal for the man to pay the bill. As I've grown in my experiences with women, dating, hooking up, and relationships. I have found that women love that and it has worked to my advantage many many times.
