Grumpy Old Troll: I'm the grumpy old troll, who lives under the bridge! If you want ten Off Topix bucks all you have to do is this, all you have to do is this, solve my damn riddle, but I'll be fair and dumb them down a little bit at first so you're able to grasp them, then they'll get more challenging as time elapses. Firstly, Dora bets Diego $25 that he can predict the score of the football game before it starts. Diego agrees, but loses the bet. Why did Diego lose the bet? Mind numbing isn't it, not being able to understand, and I'm sure the riddle is challenging for you as well.

Not sure if I'm understanding the riddle correctly, but...

If Dora bet Diego $25 that he 'could' predict the score

and he 'did' do it - that means Dora won the bet, so

'Diego' would have had to pay Dora.

So by losing, Dora had to pay him ?

Why did he lose the bet is the question, read it carefully, I think you'll get it pretty quickly.

Diego lost the bet because Dora predicted the correct score of the football game.

That's the obvious, however, there is a reason given in the text below telling us why he lost the bet, find it.

Dora bets Diego $25 that she can predict the score of the football game before it starts. Diego agrees, but loses the bet. Why did Diego lose the bet?

That's different from the original Orion

The first one says she bets him that 'He' can predict the score

but the one you've just copied says 'She'.

Which one is it ?

Diego lost the bet because he didn't predict the correct score.

No, the question isn't that obvious, it tells you why but that's the entire point of the riddle you have to find it, the answer is that the reason she won is because obviously she could predict what the score would be BEFORE the game, get it? Let's try another one that is a little bit more direct.

Grumpy Old Troll: What starts off on four legs, advances to two, then winds up on three?

Dora predicted the score prior to the game beginning was 0-0. That is the score of all football games before kickoff.

Edit: Also, the second one is humans. When born we crawl on hands and feet, when we grow up we walk on two legs, and when we're old we walk using a stick.

The Riddler: Close, but the true answer is just a child, sure, at first it can only crawl on four legs, but cut off both of it's legs and it squirms around on two, then give one of the legs back and it can wobble around on three, you see?

Dr. Young: That's terrible, how could you even joke like that!?

The Riddler: Simple doctor, it's not my baby.

The Grumpy Old Troll: Well Shiro Yuri, you were close enough so I'll give ye that one, but can you solve another? What often has to sacrifice itself for your mistakes, when there are no contracts written in ink?

No, good guess though, don't take the nothing written in ink thing too seriously it was just a way to chime in potentially the answer.

An eraser

Correct! The ten dollars shall be awarded to you in a jiffy, congratulations.

The Grumpy Old Troll: John hammered a nail into a tree to mark his height, six years later, he returns to the tree to see how much higher the nail was. If the tree grew by six inches each year than how much higher would the nail be?
