My general discussion forum is The Infinity Program, and is located at http://theinfinityprogram.com. Also, as I say in the guest welcome message near the top of my forum, my goal was to create a community that would last, and that would pride itself on purposeful discussion and relaxed (though not arbitrary) moderation. In regard to the first goal mentioned, my forum has been around since 2004, and has seen a change in host (Exocrew to GoDaddy) and software (phpBB2 to vB3).

That said, if you would like to learn more about the forum, please check out the links included in my guest welcome message, which includes a customized FAQ, and an entertaining account of the forum history titled A Brief History of the Universe. There is, furthermore, an entire section titled The Infinity Encyclopedia, wherein you can find more about the community, including notable events and members.

As for the styles of my forum, there are three, including one for mobile devices. The main one, Enlighten, is the light style. If you'd like a dark style, though, there's also Greenfox.

Regards,

Kevin

Nice looking forum and good luck with it!

Greenfox is an awesome skin!

Glad you like it. You reminded me, by the way, that it would probably be beneficial for me to provide a screen shot of that style:

While I'm posting screen shots, in any case, here is a more decent one recently taken of the main style, Enlighten:

Thank you, Howard. I'm sorry if the forum is slow for you at the moment (it is for me). I haven't had this trouble before, and I hope it goes away soon.

Lol, just sent you a pm over on my forums asking you about that mate.

wow it is slow i hope this doesn't persist because that's the only thing keeping me from sighing up

Hi, guys. How's the page load time now? The forum seems to have come back up to speed.

Kevin

Certainly one of the more mature discussion forums I have seen around. Good luck with it.

For the last few years, as I did not want to clutter the index page of my forum (i.e., the forum listing), I have kept it down to 12 forums, which all regularly obtain new content. Yesterday, I again brought the forum listing down to 11, however, when I made Room For Right-Brainers, the forum for members' art and written work, into a sub-forum.

I don't want to add too many sub-forums, and indeed there are few, but I decided to make Right-Brainers one because, although it has its decent share of posts, it is not nearly as popular as the other sections at this time. If the demographics of the community change in such a way that that forum regains popularity, however, I am ready to bring it back to the fore.

The forum Right-Brainers was made sub-forum under, in any case, is The Library, the section for discussion of literature and language. Now, I have also made it the forum for discussion of artwork and photography.

Also, the debate forum, which was called The Debating Table, was renamed Socratic Dialogue, a title recommended by a long time member. The idea behind the name change was as I announced it in a feedback topic:

Whatever the name, I wanted to make it clear that debate table differentiates itself from miscellaneous discussion by being specifically about controversial or heated topics. The name, then, would be sufficient, but since that sub-section is not designed for formal debate, I wanted to make it clearer by replacing debate table with a more informal sounding name. Hence, Socratic Dialogue.

Anyways, The Infinity Program is up to 699 legitimate registrations (i.e., no spam bots). I was wondering if anyone here would like to help us make it 700.

My first bump (made after 24 hours, as per the guidelines)!

Anyways, thanks to the talent of my fellow administrator, Saint, the forum styles Enlighten and Greenfox now have background images. However, when it comes to the one for Enlighten, Saint still plans to edit it:

My plan is to replace the white with a light blue (too much white I think will clash with the brown enlighten layout), reduce the opacity of the rings, and see how it turns out. Since I also have to adjust for low resolutions, I may also remove the I logo, so it doesnt look ridiculous when that overlaps.

If anyone here has a slower connection, do you notice a problem with load time? Do you find it distracting? Or do you like it?

Also, still hoping for that 700th registration.

Congrats Medora and keep up the great work!

I would like to quote an update I just posted at another forum:

Pulse Red is a new style being used at my forum. It is a fixed style, but wider than the other two available. Two screen shots of the index page of this style are attached to this post.
