That's a shame. I suppose even robotic dogs can make good companions to some people who get emotionally attached to them, so this move from the manufacturer comes off as rude and heartless.
Personally, despite not being much of a pet person, I wouldn't mind having this little fellow:

And no offense to poor Mickey, but unlike him, K-9 actually made me laugh on a few occasions.

Bastards tossed the poor doggy out in the first round, though. Such a shame you can't hear anything. So much humor in it.
