The Report Button

I have used it but not on Off Topix. I used it when a mod on another forum attacked me and called me nasty names on the open board. The mod was suspended for a month.

Well if you report a post about a Moderator, they are the one who is going to see the report.. They could clean up any evidence before the admin comes around.

I reported the post then copied it and emailed it to the Admin before she could delete or clean it up.

Good one!

Ive only had one moderator go power crazy and turned into a total jerk after he got comfortable in his position. That was in the early days of a previous forum. I gave him a few chances to improve but he then lashed out on the staff for trying to help him become a better moderator.

He was shown the door.

This same moderator wound up getting banned. I then joined another forum and found out later she was a moderator there so I

out of there.

I think I've used it once or twice. Never really seen anything bad on forums to justify using it.

I'd used it countless times on ZNB due to their community being full of trolls. Outside of that, I don't really need to use it as there is really no problems on most boards.

Hey, that's a good idea. Because if the mod deleted it, you'd still have a copy as evidence.

I usually just ignore the post, unless I find it very offending, then I'll use the report button. But I rarely have to use it.

Spam, occasionally.

On a forum I used to work on there would have been about 100 reports A DAY. It was freaking ridic.

I use it for serious violations of the rules. I believe it is the members duty to report violations, just like it is the duty of citizens to report crimes to the police.

Rarely. I don't have to use the report button on here, and I only visit one or two other forums, but not on a regular basis.

I have worked with forums, posted on forums etc. for more than four years and in that time I can honestly say that I have never once utilized the report button nor have I ever had one of my members utilize the report button.

Yeah, in the event of total red flag weirdness which actually happened to me today on a roleplay site. Person reached out to me about writing together. I was polite in telling them I wasn't looking for anymore stories which the start of their message was polite as well until they said instead of writing they would rather be friends to flirt with me until they were able to get between "somewhere" so I would want to write with them. Yeah....reported.
