The top 10 places to discover new music online

Just last.fm

Tried using iTunes Genius but it doesn't seem to work without creditcard info.

I agree on the stores, sharing, and lastfm being good places to know of new music. But it seems Youtube got left out. Myspace is a good one too in my opinion. Since its become littered with Artists.

Pretty interesting article

I tend to use Last.fm and YouTube to check out new bands - also Reverbnation is fantastic! I don't tend to get many recommendations from friends these days. I'm more likely to be the friend who recommends stuff! lol! This is mainly due to my webzine and the fact that many bands and labels contact me directly. This results in my having a wealth of new music available to me at any one time - it's brilliant!

But, seriously though, if I wasn't doing the webzine thing, I think that most of my musical discoveries would come from Last.fm, YouTube and Reverbnation. I also used to use Pandora back in the day and I seem to remember that being very good, if a little temperamental.

Last.fm is pretty awesome for discovering new music, and seeing what your friends' most-listened-to bands/artists/songs.

I love Last.fm. It really satisfies the geeky part of my personality - I can see what I've been listening to and when

Metal is iffy for me. I kinda like Opeth, for instance, but otherwise it's hard for me to get used to death growls. I think I prefer black metal. Definitely dig traditional metal lol.
