What is your favorite literary theme to read about?

I love a good tragedy, absolutely love them. Whether it's via loss, a tragic ending for a heroic character, a horrific decline into insanity, things of that nature just really get me interested. It's why I love The Book Thief by Markus Zusak so much. The movie is...meh...but the book is fantastic! The ending, wow!
