One God....Only one God....Isaiah 45:21-23 tells us.....

21 Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.

22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

In these verses God is calling to His people, to return to Him, because He is both a just God, and a Savior to those who will come to Him.....

He's calling to the ends of the earth, look unto me, and be ye saved.....

(All my posts are mainly about God....The Savior.....The Spirit.....And they remain open for all to apply.....I only ask that when you comment, that you keep it clean, meaning you can make your point clearly, without using abusive language, or slurs.)

the 1st commandment:

1. I am the Lord thy God and thou shalt have no other Gods before me'

he does not say that there are no other Gods, it only says that no other God should be placed ahead of him.

And....Isaiah 45:22 says: Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

What my take on this is....There is only one TRUE God....

Yes, there are other gods (not God), which are idols.....

Thank you for your comment.

The Bible sure doesn't like its other gods.
2 Kings 23:13 said:
The king ruined the high places east of Jerusalem, south of the Mount of Destruction, that King Solomon of Israel had built for the detestable Sidonian goddess Astarte, the detestable Moabite god Chemosh, and the horrible Ammonite god Milcom.

And, to be fair, most of those other gods were detestable.

Which, I believe is a fair description of any entity that orders its subjects to bring infants in for sacrifice on a regular basis so the priests can bathe in, and even drink their blood.

You will, of course, notice that this is from a reasonably respectable academic source and not sheer propaganda from one side or the other:

Sacrificed children were buried at locations known as tophets (Image: Josephine Quinn)

After decades of scholarship denying that the Carthaginians sacrificed their children, new research has found 'overwhelming' evidence that this ancient civilisation really did carry out the practice.

A collaborative paper by academics from institutions across the globe, including Oxford University, suggests that Carthaginian parents ritually sacrificed young children as an offering to the gods.

The paper argues that well-meaning attempts to interpret the 'tophets' – ancient infant burial grounds – simply as child cemeteries are misguided.

And the practice of child sacrifice could even hold the key to why the civilisation was founded in the first place.

regardless if there's only one supreme almighty god...

per definition, there can be gods, jr gods, goddesses, spirits, entities, etc. that can be good or evil that are above or more powerful then the average human... or something else that makes a person or something else "their" god or goddess...

I don't really think this is so much of a debate as it is people coming in, expressing their opinions, and then telling others their opinions are wrong. xD You can't really win in this situation, and it seems mighty pointless to discuss it in this manner.

Then SAY you agree instead of quoting her tag line or whatever that is, or posting a stupid video, or using a smiley face....

Just say what you mean, and, oddly enough, mean what you say.

Is that too much?

Age has nothing to with wanting a sensible reply out of you. :)

you see, this is the problem with religion, it always ends up with a fight

This is the way I see religion and those who are true believers.

There are over 200 recognized 'large' religions in the world.

Of these the top six, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Judaism they each believe that their religion is right, and the others are wrong.

Some more than others, believe that the only way to paradise is through their religion, and if you do not believe then you will end up in 'hell'.

Therefore, even if you totally believe with all of your heart in your religion, and that you are absolutely right, and everyone else is wrong, and you live you life in complete dedication following your religion, the chances are that you are going to hell because you are believing in the wrong one.
And that is assuming that all the other religions are wrong as well.

So you might be completely right in your beliefs, but the chances are that you are wrong, and by having a higher number of people believing in what you believe does not increase your odds on it being right or not. It is like a buying a religious lottery ticket in many ways.

But the main thing is, and this goes for any religious beliefs, as long as it makes you happy and makes the world a better place to live in for you and does not impose itself like the way ISIS is currently, then enjoy your beliefs if it gives you comfort.

Fair enough. But, that was hardly a fight. That was more of the usual between Mr. J and myself, and, that was fairly civilized at that. And I fault myself for that exchange for questioning something he posted.... well, nevermind.

But that's not what I wanted to say.

To me through the research I've done, It looks like this.

The Creator... The originator of the game we're playing. The one what owns the place. Etc.

Calls All People... that 'longing in the soul' for something more.

Back To Himself.

Now, as to what form that call takes, how you deem to answer it to suit your own conscience, and, to some extent, your opportunity to answer that call, may vary. But there IS the call, that is part of the human condition.

If you feel your first best choice is to be a Nordic Pagan, as Storm says she is, but you live on Java, that may not even be possible. So you end up doing the best you can.

I have been to services of more 'brands' of religion than I can count. Some felt hollow and forced. Others were obviously the corporate worship of a community of like minded believers, except for me.

I have found, what I believe here and now, to be My Answer, in the message of the Gospel of Christ Jesus.

It may not be yours.

But you ARE looking for one, whether or not you even know it right now.

To me, to sit back and say.... "I don't believe anything" is an easy out, and probably the most unsatisfying choice of all in the long run.

Let me close by quoting one of the master poets of our time: Neil Peart.

"If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice."
Rush, Freewill.
