It's not just photos that you're sharing.

Ever snapped a photo with your phone, then uploaded it to post on Twitter? You may have shared more than just an image. ICanStalkU.com was set up by tech consultants to alert Twitter users that their smartphone pics are embedded with GPS data, making it so easy to determine your precise latitude and longitude that a first grader could stalk someone, says cofounder Larry Pesce. For its part, Twitter's image-hosting service strips geotagged data from phone-uploaded pics, but third-party services like TwitPic are still vulnerable. Twitter has twice suspended ICanStalkU's account, calling the site's cautionary tweets spam. But Pesce says, If we thought of it, someone else much more evil and smarter has been using it.

Have you ever done this using your phone? If so, does this information worry you?

Shouldn't smartphone creators/vendors alert consumers to the fact that any pics they take contain their location?

I knew images contained some creepy extra data, but this is ridiculous.

I knew about this when adam from mythbusters had the same problem! He uploaded a photo and he got a bunch of people outside hes house. Ive now turned all GPS, mapping, etc.. on my phone

That is very scary that something like this happened to him. You were very smart to turn off the features on your phone.

Nahh, I have a pretty old, normal cellphone. The amount of information people get off your phone these days is ridiculous though. 0_o

He took a photo of hes new truck uploaded it to facebook i think it was and everyone showed up at hes door. I mean i have i have the Google app on my phone if i turn my phones GPS on it knows what street on, turn it off its like the next street away. Still worrying.

You say that people showed up at his door, did they do it just to tell him of this problem or to stalk him? (I know it seems a bit overboard to go to his house to tell him something like that but maybe they lived near him and knew they wouldn't be able to talk to him via email)

Unsure, I read something about him saying people showed up at hes door within an hour of posting hes image.
