Watching a fair bit of Steven Hawkings got me thinking: What lies beyond our grasp of the universe. What is further than we can see? It isn't crazy to assume there is life out there. If we were created by our universe, what is stopping life from being tangible further into the universe?

So what are your ideas? What is out there? How can we reach it?

I thought we weren't supposed to discuss religion.

Anything beyond direct observation introduces the concept of faith.

Anything beyond a reasonable theoretical horizon is pretty much solidly in its ballpark.

So while I could answer it at some length.

I was told not to.

There's probably more life out there somewhere. Maybe not, but probably.

As for reaching it... I doubt that'd be an easy task... Time dilation might make matters easier, though.

I understand where religion would play in this, but for the sake of the conversation we're looking at this in a purely scientific manner.

What about colonization of foreign planets? I've seen that scientists think there to be traces of water on Mars, and that Mars would suffice as a trial with better possibilities of sustaining life than on the moon. (Less sporadic temperature changes)

I'm sorry, I took the statement If we were created by our universe... too seriously.

In any case.

Unless the place is terra formed first, I don't see why anyone'd want to live there. (Permanently. I could see people going there on holiday or for research.)

Devising a way to actually get there that doesn't take years would be a good first step.
