Thoughts on movie franchises

I like when a popular franchise makes a few movies. The only thing I don't like is the length of time in between movies. A movie could come out today and I'll see it and will be craving more! I'll have to wait 3 or 4 years before the sequel comes out. 
Not all movie franchises are great. Sometimes you get the original that people love and a sequel that was just as good, and then the next slew of sequels that follow are nothing but trash. We also have movies that really sucked and were downright awful that get sequels that are 10 times just as bad with no reason why they managed to get made.
