Note to self..... Do not bite, do not reply, do not bite, do not reply.... Oh, bugger it, here goes.
@Naiwen I absolutely believe that everyone should have the right to freedom of belief and freedom of speech, and I would take to the streets and march and I would join a fight to protect those rights, because they are fundamental and should be universal for all regardless of the society that they live in. The only caveat being that nobody should have the right to incite violence or hatred against others.
BUT as someone mentioned above, freedom of speech and freedom of belief do not mean freedom from consequence or freedom from criticism. If you are prepared to criticise or demean a person or group of people then you must also be prepared for them to retaliate.
Personally I try not to be overly critical or insulting to people who I do not know and whose issues I can not understand, because we all have our own crap going on and we never know what someone else is going through in their life.
There are many times that I have read your posts on this forum and just thought WTF, there seems to be a huge amount of hypocrisy and contradiction. You claim to be asexual and aromantic (not sure if that is the right term) yet you post a huge amount about sex and how everyone in the world is constantly 'hitting on' you and wanting to have affairs with you. That's just one example, there are many others, things I just can't wrap my head around and feel are somehow off, but I never mention, I read the thread, I want to say something, and instead I just move on.
Partially that is because I don't know you or understand you, and I don't want to cause stress or pain or hurt by publicly saying 'hey, I think you are X or Y', and partially because I don't want to open myself up to the potential criticism in return.
So yes, your right to freedom of speech should be sacred, but it doesn't mean that you should always use it.
Just as an aside, I'm not and neither are many other people in the US as you claim that we all are.
