Apologies if there already is something like this somewhere deep in this area. But, I figured I'd start this up and others are more then welcome to add their own tips and the like.

Now since starting and running IndieComiX back in June of 2012. Which I suppose one could consider a blog/website or some variation or what have you. One of the things I tend to regret at rare occasions is not properly doing as much research as I could into what would be best to use. Like Wordpress, Weebly, Blogspot, Tumblr, and other various sites that offer you blogging type material. Now my lack of knowledge in this area, learning about the easy use of Weebly, and what would be the cheapest to use should I want to add in a domain or use more special features that required a bit of extra money contributed to why I wound up using Weebly and not something like Wordpress. Although paying about 99 bucks a year when it comes to domain use on Wordpress is something that isn't exactly appealing to me for a few reasons I'm not gonna get into right now.

So basically, what I'm saying is. If you are in the area to start your own website, blog, or whatever. Research thoroughly for what would work best for you. And if you aren't looking to add in dates, pictures, descriptions, secondary pages so as not to make your front page or archive page super long, etcera everytime you want to update your front page. Weebly may not be for you. Now with Weebly, it offers a blogging feature and a regular means of adding pages. I thought using the regular pages way was the way to go. And cause of that, I learned the hard way about the need to prevent super long front pages and archive pages. As the non blogging way doesn't automatically go into a secondary and so forth page. Likely the blog feature does that but I can't say for sure.

The niche you are intending to use said site for also plays into this. I don't know squat about Football, but I suspect your more busier times for posting content would be during when Football season is around. Unlike news, comics, or music. Which there's always likely to be something out there someone may not even know of at the time. So content is always an important must, cause with out it. People aren't gonna have much interest in your site even though they know previous content is there cause they've already viewed it. And if you are only intending to make it a hobby and nothing more. There's still the likelyhood you'll be learned of through word of mouth or whatever passes for the internet version. So that's likely to bring some interesting happenings. Granted I could be full of crap on that so what do I really know? Although I started mine cause I love the Indy scene of comics and wanted to help bring more exposure to them.

I'm gonna stop here, but feel free to add in your own tips and even feedback if you'd like.

There are alot of good CMS programs free out there. Most good hosts provide you with a download application that gives you a variety of programs you can use to start.

I like Wordpress for pretty much any site or even if you wanted to use it for just blogging.
