Toddler shoots himself dead after finding mum's handgun in her purse and playing with it

A three-year-old boy shot himself dead after finding his mum’s hand gun in her purse.

Marques Green was playing with the gun when he pulled the trigger and fired a fatal bullet into his chest.

His desperate mother heard the gunshot and rushed to find her child slumped on the floor.

In a horrific emergency call, Marques’ mum, Elizabeth Green, told operators how she kept the gun in her purse - which she had set down just moments beforehand.

She is heard screaming through the call before police and ambulance services turned up to the home in Hamilton, Ohio.

The frantic mother told the operator: “My son just shot himself, Oh my God, Oh My God … he’s shot in the heart.”

She later adds: "I don’t know if he is alive.”

A police officer was later seen leaving the home with a black handgun and later placing it in an evidence bag.

Prosecutors are now considering whether or not to charge the mother.

Tragic loss of an innocent little boy. Not sure why they even have to consider charging the mother. This mother was irresponsible and left a loaded handgun where this little boy had easy access to it.

The mother was an idiot!

She might have just as easily have left prescription medication in her purse.

Young children need to be watched constantly, and dangerous items secured, out of sight and reach of children.
