What are some of your family traditions during the holidays?

Many, many big feasts. Family get-togethers, watching Christmas specials, listen to Christmas music.. Lots of the common stuff.

Nothing really. My dad and uncles play poker and get angry and accuse each other of robbing them. It's a sight to be seen again.

Let's see. We gather at Mom's, whoever can come.....at least 25 sometimes more. Presents. Mainly family presents not so many individual ones.

Driving around to look at the Christmas lights.

Christmas play at church. My youngest has been every part in the play, except Mary. (including Baby Jesus when he was about 5 months old)

Caroling.

A bag of fruit (one of the elderly men in our church started that tradition when I was little, and it continues to this day) We get an apple, orange, some nuts, a candy cane and some Christmas candy. All in a little brown paper bag. It's not much, but it's the thought behind it.

Reading A Christmas Carol to count down the days.

A special ornament each year.

Cookies and milk for Santa

Rudolph, Frosty, and Charlie Brown

you don't know what it is (trying to keep the Christmas surprise)

Drinking a toast to those who aren't with us.

This and so much more---It's all good. *smiles wistfully*

A tree before December 1st?

Lawl. I'm kidding. Ours is going up in a few days. Not going shopping tomorrow?

Our tree goes up in the first week of December and down again in the first week of January,

Our tree goes up whenever we can be bothered, and comes down in May or so, when someone trips over it and remembers that it's still there, or a bauble drops on someone's head.

I remember I was Mary once, the head scarf thingy I had to wear was really itchy so I pretty much had an awful time doing that. Mum's Christian, and I used to be too, so we usually go to her church and meet up with some relatives. That'd be Christmas Eve, and maybe Christmas Day lunch. Oh yeah and we do the whole present lark. Christmas night we have dinner together, with some family friends and people we haven't seen for months.

We also have the Myer Christmas windows here on Bourke St, in Melbourne, so we'll go to that in the sweltering heat, and at night in Ivanhoe, there's a whole street of Christmas lights, so we walk around there.

My uncles have a tradition of sneaking off to smoke a doobie before/during EVERY holiday.

My family is a bunch of ex-hippies.

I used to go off with them, but I didnt feel like it this time.. Plus I havent smoked in forever, dont want to break that winning streak.

I love Black Friday shopping, but unfortunately this year I had to work, so no shopping for me.

However, when I do go Black Friday shopping, it's for a specific 2 or 3 things--get in, get it, get out, and life is good in my world.....
