(The Guardian) Trump campaign launches 'Rural Americans for Trump' coalition
With Kamala Harris gaining momentum, Donald Trump’s campaign has launched a new coalition called Rural Americans for Trump.

In a statement released on Thursday, the campaign said: Rural America deserves a President that serves the interests of families in the Heartland and empowers them to be the most successful and prosperous versions of themselves. President Trump has proven that he will fight for rural Americans, stand up to China, support our farmers, ensure fair trade deals for workers, and defend our ideals across the globe.

A similar coalition has been set up for Harris called Rural Americans for Harris.

On its sign-up page, the coalition for Harris wrote: Rural America is ready to help get vice president Kamala Harris elected to the White House! Together, we aren’t going to sit around and let the MAGA crowd bully our neighbors and continue to let stereotypes that Trump and JD Vance perpetuate go unanswered or unchecked about our strong rural communities … The Trump Republicans have weird obsessions and outdated ideas about our reproductive health, public schools, immigrants, and veterans. We know our towns better than the consultants propping up Vance and Trump and that is why we endorse Kamala AND are committed to turning out 5% more rural voters for Democrats up and down the ballot!

The rural areas by me are mostly Republican. I don't mind being "weird" because my beliefs and ideas are normal.

Bad strategy.

Acres don't vote, People do.
You're right; acres don't vote.
People do and they're getting sicked and tired of elected officials ignoring them to court city voters.

Yeah. We are sick of pandering politicians promising the city our tax money, and then giving it to them to hand to criminal politicians, and just plain regular standard issue criminals.

But.

Between greater Chicago, and the metro area around St. Louis, you're talking about almost half of the population of the state.

So good luck changing that.

The same holds true with states like Pennsylvania, New York, and so on. The population is concentrated in a couple of certifiably liberal cities.

Look at Georgia's map from 2020. Biden was the first Dem to carry it in years. And he did it by working the cities.

and the metro area around St. Louis
The bulk of which is in a thoroughly red state, Missouri.
East St. Louis and its' environs haven't improved much since John Carpenter filmed scenes from Escape from New York there back in the late 70's. (He should do a third Escape film and title it "Escape from Chicago"....)
