I was thinking maybe this ain't so bad in the beginning. And then I spoke to our Cuban friend just back from Cuba to see some of his family still stuck in that hell hole thinking he was going to be excited beyond measure. And he always brings back a few Cuban Cigars I like also. But his first words were when asked what do you think of this. Fantastic America will now be propping up another dictator he says. He was very much against such a action.

Plus the trade we did for the hostage was trading murderers of Americans.

oh liberty, possession of and smoking a cuban cigar is a crime and illegal...

i thought you were a law biding american citizen? :P

Cubans are aloud to bring the Cuban Cigars into America as long as they are not in the packaged box they are sold with. Which I really want by the way. Its a gift to me and perfectly legal. But that being said no one is perfect. ;)

Can I import Cuban cigars into the U.S.?

No. The allowance for bringing in up to $100 worth of Cuban cigars if you were on authorized travel to Cuba is no longer in effect. All importations of Cuban cigars are illegal, including Cuban cigars that were acquired in other countries (such as Canada, England, or Mexico).

There is now an across board ban on the importation into the United States of Cuban-origin cigars and other Cuban-origin tobacco products, as well as most other products of Cuban origin. This prohibition extends to such products acquired in Cuba, irrespective of whether a traveler is licensed by Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to engage in Cuban travel related transactions.

Criminal penalties for violation of the Regulations range up to $1,000,000 in fines for corporations, $250,000 for individuals and up to 10 years in prison. Civil penalties of up to $65,000 per violation may be imposed by OFAC.

Foreign residents and visitors to the U.S.(i.e., French, Mexican etc) may not bring in goods of Cuban origin under any circumstances.

seems like you give yourself a break yet not anyone else that makes a bad choice or a mistake, i see... unless they're your friend... ;)

if you don't believe government sources for simple things then what do you believe? :|

Cuban friend has quite a good and successful life here and would not bring in 10 or so cuban cigars to risk his whole lively hood plus the family he helps in Cuba. The luggage and check in bags get a very good looking at before they are allowed to pass and if Cuban Cigars were not allowed to be brought in from Cubans then he would have been caught long ago. Specially when he sometimes brings the empty cuban boxes they come in for people who want them as souvenirs. Along with the dogs that sniff the luggage also all the time. Hell every time I come from Ecuador everything is taken apart with my luggage and I get a friendly greeting from a drug dog.

But..... We also have friends who are couple that work in the Orlando Airport that do that exact kind of work looking for illegal drugs and such. So it will just give me a excuse to contact our friends we have not spoken to in a little while.

okay, well, people sneak in illegal guns and drugs all the time and don't get caught, so that makes it not illegal anymore? :|

your logic is flawed plus you still disagree with facts because you simply want to disagree with me... so again i ask, if you don't believe official government agency sources for laws, then what do you trust and believe? and please don't tell me fox news...

also, may i add, the dogs are for explosives and drugs, they do not sniff out tobacco... and if your friend takes the wrapper off, then humans can pass it off and let you move along, it really depends... still illegal to bring into the country and have in your person... law is the law, buddy! right? ;)

Apples and oranges to compare the two. What boards and unloads on a plane is heavily scrutinized.

your logic is flawed plus you still disagree with facts because you simply want to disagree with me... so again i ask, if you don't believe official government agency sources for laws, then what do you trust and believe? and please don't tell me fox news...

I disagree because you are fabulously wrong.

also, may i add, the dogs are for explosives and drugs, they do not sniff out tobacco... and if your friend takes the wrapper off, then humans can pass it off and let you move along, it really depends... still illegal to bring into the country and have in your person... law is the law, buddy! right? ;)

Actually it depends on what the dog is trained to do. But they are trained to smell more then just drugs and explosives. Tobacco products can be on that list. And also certain plants and fruits. Got stopped by the police with a dog in Mexico because I had a fruits in my bag I was not allowed to bring to shore getting of the cruise ship. And it is not against the law for Cubans to bring those products in limited numbers.

dogs can sniff out cancer and cell phones too, among other things... the fact that you only mention explosives and drugs is the only reason why i only listed those two as an option for sniffing dogs... dogs, as of currently, i have not seen nor heard of any police dog or otherwise to be able to sniff out tobacco... ;)

but i suppose dogs can be trained to sniff out tobacco but not sure if there's a point as it would be more of a waste of time...

The point is they are also trained to find tobacco products. It is not suppose they use them all the time for schools.
