Underrated Video Games

We often talk about overrated video games that don't necessarily deserve the hype they get, but surely there are games that don't receive the kind of hype they deserve. Which video games do you feel are underrated?

+ TLoZ: Link's Awakening (GB/C)
+ Dynamite Headdy (MegaDrive/Genesis)
+ Age of Mythology (PC)

Those are some that I can think.

One from a while ago I think that was underrated was Xenogears. It got written off a lot because of the second half of the game kinda sucking and being rushed, but overall it was amazing and I think everyone should play it, especially if you like RPGs.

Earthworm Jim 3D (N64 version) is another. Despite the low review scores it got, it's something recommended for those who like 'Bile Fascinations' like me.

I freakin' loved Earthworm Jim when I was just a wee lass playing video games with my brothers. One of the best games I've played, but I haven't checked out 3D. I have an N64, too.

The '3D' title had mechanical bugs/glitches during its phase of development. For some reason they did also remove/change some aspects from the 2D games -- maybe it was one of the reasons why the game didn't get the expected hype.

Here are a few underrated video games:

- Shantae (GBC). If WayForward Technologies made a few better decision and found a publisher that would distribute this game worldwide, Shantae would probably have an even greater fanbase and more attention to the public. (I guarantee she and Risky would've even been added into the SSB series.)
- Metroid 2: Return of Samus (GBC).
- Bomberman 64.
- Doom 64.
- Croc.

Earthworm Jim 3D (N64 version) is another. Despite the low review scores it got, it's something recommended for those who like 'Bile Fascinations' like me.

I remember that game for the sega genesis. Good times, good times.

I remember that game for the sega genesis.  Good times, good times.

There were two versions for Sega consoles, but the later version (Special Edition) had Big Bruty and extra sub-levels for 'New Junk City' and 'What The Heck?'. It was for the Sega CD.

That's awesome.  I remember playing Ground Zero Texas on that when I was really young and being scared of it. xD

I think games like [Prototype] and Folklore are pretty underrated. Great game, but you never hear about it.
