“If the Affordable Care Act is not fixed and it destroys the health and welfare funds that we have fought for and stand for, then I believe it needs to be repealed,” said Terence M. O’Sullivan, president of the Laborers’ International Union of North America. “We don’t want it to be repealed. We want it to be fixed, fixed, fixed.

“We’ve had our asses kicked on retirement security and we know our health funds are under siege,” he added. “We ask the president and Congress to do the right thing for the men and women we represent.”

Franchise restaurant owners have come to Washington seeking a change to ObamaCare that they say could prevent them from having to cut their employees’ hours.

The healthcare law requires large employers to provide insurance to employees who work at least 30 hours per week.

Franchise owners say the employer mandate threatens to erase their narrow profit margins and are telling lawmakers they need to overhaul the law before it’s too late.

“Employees won’t have the hours they need, and they won’t get employer-sponsored healthcare, either,” said Steve Caldeira, president and CEO of the International Franchise Association (IFA).

I was watching a town hall meeting on t.v. yesterday of some crazy people complaining about Obamacare. Personally I don't know too much about the issue, except that it changes the dependent coverage for young people until they are 26. Apparently it has some advantages: http://www.ncsl.org/issues-research/health/dependent-health-coverage-state-implementation.aspx

If that were all it did it wouldn't be a problem.

not at all

And in truth, not all the ramifications are known, not even by those implementing it,

including stuff like this:

Update:

The Health Care Law generally has no new impacts to the Form 1040 series for the 2012 returns that individuals may be currently filing. However, if you received a health insurance premium rebate during 2012, check irs.gov/aca under Medical Loss Ratio to see if you are one of the few people who needs to include it on your 2012 return. If you do not have a tax filing requirement, you do not need to file a 2012 federal tax return to establish future eligibility or qualify for future financial assistance to purchase health care coverage through an exchange. To find out if you have to file a federal tax return for other reasons, use the IRS Interactive Tax Assistant.

If you are seeking information about how to obtain health care coverage or financial assistance to purchase health care coverage for you and your family, visit the Health and Human Services website, HealthCare.gov.

IRC §7216, Disclosure or Use of Information by Tax Return Preparers
Final Treasury Regulations on rules and consent requirements relating to the disclosure or use of tax return information by tax return preparers became effective Dec. 28, 2012. For additional information about how these apply to services and education related to the Affordable Care Act, please see our questions and answers.

Yeah the IRS page is not fun. www.Healthcare.gov is a really nice resource though. It seems to affect individuals (privately insured vs medicaid; large employer vs small employer) quite differently which makes it troublesome to know all the ramifications.

large vs small employer vs no employer vs self employed

union vs non union

employed / no insurance vs employed with

currently have participating primary care vs don't

federal waiver vs no special favors from Congress

can't afford the new premium (which is higher) vs can but don't want to

and so on

and into the mess we have added this:

Walgreen Co. (WAG), the biggest U.S. drugstore chain, will move its workers into a private health insurance exchange to buy company-subsidized coverage, the latest sign of how the debate over Obamacare is accelerating a historic shift in corporate health-care coverage.

About 160,000 Walgreen employees now have to choose which coverage plan suits them best at a time of rising complexity in the health-care system. While Walgreen said it will provide funding in 2014 equal to what workers get now, the move curtails uncertainty on future outlays, and there’s no guarantee its contribution will rise if premiums do.

Walgreen joins Sears Holdings Corp. (SHLD) and Darden Restaurants Inc. (DRI) in a private exchange run by Aon Plc (AON) that includes 18 companies and 600,000 people, Aon said. While the private effort isn’t directly linked to Obamacare, the growing use of private exchange similar to the law’s public ones adds new fodder to the debate over the law’s influence.

And then....

Sep 18, 2013
CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Clinic has told workers they will be laying off an unspecified number of employees as part of an overall, sweeping cost-reduction plan.

...

The Clinic is the region's largest employer with roughly 42,000 workers.

Sheil said personnel represents 60 percent of the Clinic's budget.

She said early retirement would be offered to 3,000 eligible employees.

Most vacant jobs are not being filled.

She attributed most of the budget reductions to looming changes accompanying the start of the Affordable Health Care Act.

and then:

SEPTEMBER 18, 2013

Rep. Ron Barber, D-Ariz., introduced a bill to repeal a provision of Obamacare that threatens to increase costs for senior citizens after constituents brought the issue to his attention.

“This piece of legislation is a direct result of the concerns of the people I represent and discussions with the people of Green Valley,” Barber said in a statement Tuesday on the Helping Families and Seniors Save on Health Care Act.
