United Way

If I want to make changes in MY life, I'll make changes in my life.

I neither want or need THEM to decide a change needs to be made.

The promotion only says they "want to make changes in their neighbors lives" and then repeats it again later as "making changes...." they don't say what kinds of changes.

AND.... For my part, the neighbors that I've come to know in the year we've been here seem OK the way they are as well, and I don't "want to make changes in my neighbors life" and I don't want them to make changes in mine, we all seem content to leave each other well enough alone.

So. ... Thank you, but no thank you.

Perhaps they're talking about their neighbors in need, wanting to help make positive changes in their life (like donating them with food & clothes).

Perhaps.

Perhaps not.

I can only go by what their director said in the commercial, not by what she meant to say.

I've been looking for a local ad that appears online with the wording from the commercial. However, our local United Way appears to be essentially unaware of the existence of the internet.

I have no idea what United Way is...

The United Way Worldwide, based in Alexandria, Virginia, is a non-profit organization that works with more than 1,200 local United Way offices throughout the country in a coalition of charitable organizations to pool efforts in fundraising and support. The focus of United Way is identifying and resolving pressing community issues, as well as making measurable changes in the communities through partnerships with schools, government agencies, businesses, organized labor, financial institutions, community development corporations, voluntary and neighborhood associations, the faith community, and others. The issues United Way offices focus on are determined locally because of the diversity of the communities served. However, the main focus areas include education, income, and health.
