What are some the more unnecessary laws out there in your opinion? Do you think they should be done away with? If so, why?

I would like to see your definition of "Unnecessary" before I say any more.

For instance. Under the Talib in Afghanistan, it was against the law to keep a parakeet in a cage in your home.

"We" in the West, think that is absurd, but they had a reason for the prohibition.

Here are some: Dumb, Funny, and Stupid Laws! For the United States, click on the State you live in. For International, choose International - click on the Country you live in.

Not needed? What is your perception of that word?

Off the top of my head, I remember reading about a law in some county somewhere in Europe (I think) that has completely banned chewing gum and made it illegal...

In Michigan, from where I come from, I think selling cars on a Sunday should still be illegal since it's a day to worship God.

And you can't own a log cabin in Canada? Seriously, what on earth is this law? Imagine being a true Canadian, enjoying the cozy cabin, and playing hockey on a frozen pond.

I think you're thinking of Singapore.

Separation of Church & State. No law should ever be used to elevate a religion above others. No matter how trivial.

Yep...religion and laws should never mix.

What about those countries that live under Sharia?

And no... they don't "live under" the Sharia... they are willingly or blindly obeying/accepting their "Sharia" as their law (religion is law there... since Sharia-religious law.)

And my point still stands: no laws should be necessary if we were more human and civilized.
