Have you ever came across an admin who was unsociable and didn't care to interact with the community members very much?

What kind of impression does that leave on you (as a regular member of any given forum)? Does it matter to you, at all?

I have come across these kind of people a few times and to be honest it's not a very good thing to do if you run and admin a forum in my opinion as you are the main person that people will look to when they join a forum and start posting. I personally myself as an admin will always try to interact with my members new and current as much as I feel I can with friendly replies and such because I feel that is professional and gives you forum a friendly feeling.

Oh yes, plenty. They just carried the title of admin and never really showed themselves around the forum if but to make an announcement every six months. It was ridiculous, and in one case it led to giving power away to the worst people ever. The site met its downfall and went crashing and burning into Final Fantasy fan history. xD

Not really. But that might leave a really bad impression on newbies.

That want a forum community to be "welcoming".Anyway, the answer is,"it does matter" to me.

I belonged to a forum a long time ago with an absentee admin. There would be entire weeks that he wouldn't even log in and left the whole upkeep of his forum to his moderators who were 2 nasty, evil, crappy people. They ruined the board for me, as they both had completely unrealistic expectations. They thought themselves superior in every way to every member. Koan was the worst.

Maybe it was those moderators who drove off the admin, I don't know, but leaving the forum to them sure did drive off a bunch of members! I'm surprised the place is still active, to be honest.

Wonder is the admin's name of Tombstone had anything to do with him never showing up.

sheesh.....havnt been there for a year or two....is it still going?

It depends really.

If he has a staff member that is well, the face of the forum instead of him then it's fine (should be a co-admin but doesn't mean he will be). Preferably it shouldn't be the case but I don't see it as a big deal.

It's about the community, the badge shouldn't matter too much.
