UT Senator Reintroduces Bill to Make Pornography a Federal Crime

As truly interpreted by the Bible, porn is about thought crimes. Thought crimes can lead to evil, but don't always.

Perhaps. But humans have always been evil, long before porn.

Thought crimes are not illegal, so long as they stay in the realms of fantasy or day dreams.

One moral problem might have regardless of being a Christian, Buddhist, Muslim etc. is how can justify watching etc. porn considering the economic exploitation going on? And there's the documented proof of suicides and other things in the industry.

But some in the so called "manosphere" justify porn by claiming the women are whores and are getting paid well for it.

I do have to agree that exploitation in the porn industry certainly exists. That's a shame and shouldn't be happening.

I have never considered *any* porn actress to be a whore. I have great respect for all women and their struggles.

I'm sure all porn lovers don't have a degrading view of women, but many argue they're being paid and they ignore negative aspects.

These two statements appear to contradict. And suicide is happening all over the globe, not just in the porn industry.

Anyway, I'm not trying to argue for or against porn. I'm just saying it's silly to try and police it simply because *some* people don't like it, but for no other reason. Why don't we police Big Pharma, Big Oil, these companies and their subsidiaries have been fucking us over for decades and are causing more economic ruin and hardship than the production of pornography.

Pornography viewing causes a loss of trust with many important people (in your family, workplace etc.), unless those people also like porn.

But that's no reason to make it illegal, but it's just something that's a fact.

I don't know about you, but where I live people have a problem with it, if they know about it.

I understand that. I'm sure it will be "outlawed" one day. But then again, weed was illegal for decades, and now tonnes of countries are allowing it, including the US!

Several years ago, a talking head on the religious radio program announced to the world that he saw no difference between a famous magazine's swimsuit issue and hardcore pornography.

You cannot legislate away ignorance.

But you can elect it to office.
A lot of this stuff is thought crime stuff. I mean, I'm sure the Christian God, for instance, understands. Well, why do US fundamentalists think they are unquestionable experts on Christianity?

The funny thing about wanting to ban porn is all the politicians who'd be hurt by it as well. Whether people want to admit it or not, porn is something almost everyone watches at some point. People are easy to say "porn is dangerous and addictive". So are guns. So are drugs. and yet, guns and drugs (pot) are legal. Banning porn is all about forcing religious control. "Bible says porn is bad, therefore we're gonna ban it."

I really think the misconception among men watching porn is that the woman wants to be involved in that industry? More likely than not, she was coerced or needed the money. No little girl grows up thinking she wants to be a porn star.
