Walle is named the world's ugliest dog

A huge-headed, duck-footed mongrel has upset the odds by being named the World's Ugliest Dog.

Four-year-old Walle, a cross between a beagle, a boxer and a basset hound, was entered into the contest by owner Tammie Barbee at the last minute.

Ms Barbee, from Chico, California, said: "People come up to me and say that dog is not right - but I love him."

Judges of the 25th annual ugly dog contest, held in Petaluma, north of San Francisco, were especially impressed by Walle's bizarre waddle of a walk.

Judge Brian Sobel commented: "This dog looked like he's been photo-shopped with pieces from various dogs and maybe a few other animals."

Walle wins $1,500 and will become something of a canine celebrity, making several network TV appearances over the next few weeks.

Thank you for posting the full body shot. He's got the body of a Basset Hound. Really don't see what's ugly about him.
