Do you ever use the warning system on a forum (as a staff member)?

Have you ever received an official warning?

Do you think they are a necessity or useless?

Only one time. I tried talking to the member first but he totally ignored me.

Yes on an old defunct forum. The staff was attacking me and I was defending myself. Actually the staff there attacked anyone they didn't like.

Depends. The member I gave the warning points to apologized and turned himself around. In my case, the warning was useless as I felt I did nothing wrong.

The warning system can be useful for some forums. I am a moderator at a forum host's support forum, and I have to say, some people blatantly refuse to follow the rules no matter how many times they are reminded. The warning system saves a lot of time because you don't have to spend time sending out PMs to these members instead.

On my own forum, I don't think I've ever used it, honestly. I think it just depends on the forum.

1. Twice in two different forums.
2. On another forum back in 2010. I was a complete noob back then and tended to pose as other people.
3. If it's something unforgiveable, then a warning point is necessary. But some people send PM's to the Admin saying that they've changed their behaviour. This doesn't work in certain cases though.
