Do you watch music videos?

When I was younger, the only way to find music videos was to watch TV. Now it seems that all those music channels only play reality tv shows and any garbage that isn't music.

Where do you watch music videos mostly? Youtube?

What was the last one you watched?

Yeah Youtube's a great choice now for music videos. And this was the last one I watched. Its Smallz One's new music video.

Thats where I usually watch, but I am not really into them as much as I used to be. I cant even remember the last one I looked up. :P

Understandable, sometimes your attention is on other things so its hard to focus.

But now that I am thinking about it... Maybe I will go watch some. I got an ipod full of songs that I haven't seen the video to yet. :P

Youtube, But I prefer not to watch music videos. I find they take my attention away from the song, Majority of videos are crap anyway.

Ditto.

Although, one music video that I know is worth watching is The Chemical Brothers' Star Guitar.

Agreed.

Sometimes the 'video' is crap. Maybe most of the time.

But sometimes, even if it is on just rare occasion, the video transcends the song.

I shall post a couple of examples, and NOT start with Twisted Sister's two excellent anthems and iconic videos.

The video for the Golden Earring song, by legendary producer Dick Maas, was evidently too much for MTV, when they still showed music videos, and was relegated to the middle of the night in the US market.

And the song, while good, is just that, a good song.

The video, may be better described as a short subject movie. And stands head and shoulders, with curly red hair, above damned near everything else made since then.

And here we have a video that tries to tell the story that is being related in the song.

The band, Night Ranger, is one of those "oh, yeah, that's their song" bands that have since been forgotten.

The video, which probably couldn't be made today because it exploits teenage girls, is still remembered from 1984.

(are you beginning to see a trend as to when 'good' music videos were made?)

1983.

Music videos were still brand new.

Journey hits with a power ballad and music video that sets the mark for all to follow with:

That one is a classic for sure. Love that song. :D
