Have you ever done something nice for someone only to have it backfire on you?

Plenty times. I seen to get the shit end of the stick often, but that's because people are selfish.

In my private life? No. I'm a big subscriber to the "Do it once, shame on you; do it twice, shame on me" philosophy. It's rare that I allow others a second opportunity to screw me, again.

Professionally? All the time. It's part-and-parcel with the job. Luckily, there are built-in legal safeguards to rectify it when people abuse a nicety extended to them in my line of work.

All the time at work, you try and do the right thing or help some one out and then they stab you the back, personal life not so much.
