I read Sonic The Hedgehog 215: Cold Hard Clash and Incredible Hulk 611: World War Hulks last night.

Still reading Otherland: Sea of Silver Light. I'm almost done with it though! Just a few more chapters & the epilogue and I'll be done.

Under the Dome by Stephen King.

I am reading John H. Wuorinen's A History of Finland. I wanted to pick up a book on the history of Finland after talking with a Finnish citizen about that country. I have only read a fourth of the book, but it has already given me much to think about. For example, the precarious relationship between Finland and Sweden that continues to this day despite the break in alliance after Russian annexation and a growing nationalism in Finland that sought to root out Swede influence.

I've just finished reading Lynda La Plante's Clean Cut, which was given to me but which I really enjoyed.

I'm now waiting for Sophie Kinsella's new book Mini-Shopaholic which is due out on 2nd September. I really love the Shopaholic series. It's chick-lit, but hilarious. Although the books follow on so you need to start at the beginning with Confessions of a Shopaholic.

She's also written some stand-alone books such as Twenties Girl which I absolutely LOVED and would highly recommend.

My rabbits love my books as well. I was reading an old book today that I've read before. I put it down for 5 minutes and the bunny started munching it! Doh.

Re-reading The Executioner by Chris Carter, but am waiting for a new book that comes out towards the end of September.

Reading The Game by Neil Strauss. Its so good book and its funny as well.

I purchased and read The Incredible Hulks issue 613: Dark Son part 2 of 6.

Still reading Great Expectations, but I want to start Red Dragon soon.

Van den vos Reynaerde, The Last Continent and A Tale of Two Cities.

61 Hours. Can't remember the author. It's alright. Not great. Wouldn't really recommend it.

I purchased and read The Incredible Hulks issue 614: Dark Son part 3 of 6.

Just finished rereading the last 6 parts of The Saga of Darren Shan so now it's back to rereading The Da Vinci Code till I get some new books:dontknow:

Have you read Angels and Demons? I LOVED that book! The film was good but there was such an amazing epiphany in the book which was completely bypassed in the film, that the whole meaning of the book was changed.

That's a really good book. You'll like it.

I just finished all my books. I finished the Lost Symbol a week ago, and some crap school related book today.

The lost Symbol was really good. If you liked Angels and Demons and Da Vinci Code, check it out.[/quote]

I like all Dan Browns books but don't think these two are a patch on the Da Vinci Code or Angels and Demons, which were both excellent. The Lost Symbol was a good, interesting read as was Digital Fortress although I felt the concept of running a programme you know you shouldn't run and lifting all the safety protocols to do so was a weak point in the story.

The children in our school have been given a library challenge. They have to read 26 books during the Autumn Term, each written by a different author. Every authors surname must begin with a different letter of the alphabet - Ahlberg, Barrie, Colfer, Daniels all the way to Zucker. You have a record sheet to record your books and all completed entries go into a prize draw.

I think it's a fantastic idea! They wanted some teachers to join in so that the children had someone to discuss the books with and to compete against. We, of course, will not be entered into the prize draw.

The first book I chose was Midnight is a Place by Joan Aiken. The reason I chose it was simply because I thought I'd start with an author beginning with A, and this was the fattest book in the A section.

(It's only 361 pages though, so it wont take long to read!)

One of the teachers is letting the children choose her books, so she is reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction, some of which she has really enjoyed, some of which she has really struggled with as she had little interest in the subject matter. I'm afraid I am not so altruistic.

I think it's a great idea to promote though. Hopefully it will encourage more children to take part.

I did and I agree. Changing the brand was annoying too.

Predator by Terri Blackstock.
