What bounce rates are you seeing?

Bounce rate is the rate of visitors who a website who leave after seeing only one page.

I recently started a photography forum and I was amazed when I looked back at analytics from December and saw that my average bounce rate was under 5%, even with over 50% of my visitors being new visitors, and the source of traffic with the highest bounce rate was organic Google search, with only a bit over 5% of visitors bouncing. That blew my mind (compared to other sites I had administered previously).

What bounce rates are you seeing? Are bounce rates always this low for a forum? (Haha or is mine just especially engaging?)

We put our code in the footers of all the pages, its invisible so it doesn't really matter where you put it.

So set up some test boards and experiment. That's the only way you'll ever learn.

I tried that script before. It works fine for the most part only people will need to change their email and password, because it doesn't convert that anymore thanks to eToxic being a pain in the ass... Although I guess it's their right that they want to prevent people from leaving.

No idea what a bounce rate is. I assume its something to do with backlinks? It all goes way over my head!


EDIT: Ohh you actually said...... In that case the last time I looked it was really high....Don't know figures though as i'm at work.

What anyalytic's were you using? That sounds odd. Maybe you put it in the wrong place? I dunno.

I believe bounce rate is the people who just view the index page, don't click any links and leave. So currently 19% of our visitors click into the site and then immediately leave. 81% stay to browse around and view other pages.

it was google. it just screwed the whole board up. Had my other admin take a look at it too. couldn't work out why it was doing it.
