What caused the downfall of Sega was extremely poor marketing, which took the form of inane TV commercials. Instead of showing in-game footage of characters and gameplay, in-game environments, music and sound effects of new video game titles, hardly any actual game footage was shown, no FMVs, not even a cut scene or a character intro. All they typically showed was a bunch of irrelevant chaotic imagery with some idiot shouting SEGA! at the end of it, with a flash of the title of the game thrown in somewhere.
