What cheers you up when you're feeling down or angry?

(Could be a song, a picture, a video, doing something in particular, etc...)

Favorite food.
A dessert.
Someone being nice to me.
Just a few minutes to blow off steam / vent.

Music and my best friend is all i really need to start smiling again ^^

Going on Off Topix and chatting with all you friendly people, naturally. ^^

having a conversation with someone. the sun coming out from behind a cloudy sky at the right moment. summer rain from a clear sky. a random song from the radio that i've usually never heard before then. things like that :>

Being bi-polar I can easily flip moods from one extreme to the the other, but the one thing that can usually be guaranteed to put me back onto a high is a rehearsal night (Thursdays) singing with my choir.

My mom was bi-polar, as well as several others in my family.

Knowing and dealing with someone that is bipolar can be tough. I know someone who used to end up in the hospital after Thanksgiving and be home by Christmas. It was seasonal. She stopped taking her mediclines which always ended up with her in the hospital, She gets tested to make sure her levels are right. How many times myself and others ended up in tears because we couldn't do anything to help. It been a few years since she had to be put in the hospital. I keep my fingers crossed all the time

Hospitalized over being bi-polar?

It can result in one minute being as Happy as Larry - the next in a state of extreme depression, lacking the will to live or even becoming suicidal.

I am aware of that, had to deal with those issues in my own family, maybe chanel was talking about a mental health hospital, not a regular one. :dontknow:

Could be. I've been sectioned a couple of times, although last time I refused to let them take me to the hospital in the first place.

The thing is, you can be on a downer, but then be on a high just as quickly. It just depends on the triggers.

Right now I'm angry at myself for screwing up (as explained in the Highlights of Your Day Thread), but overall am on a high after having done my best & been well received by an appreciative audience. :-)

I have a very negative view of the bipolar as my ex was a severe sufferer, to the extent that I actually made myself ill with worry and staying up for days at a time trying to help her. The joy.

She could be dead now, I don't care anymore.

People's sadness cheers me up. Because usually they're sad over trivial things, and it makes me realise that the problems I've got are just as trivial and stupid as theirs.
