Thought it might be fun to share what we got for Christmas. What did Santa bring you this year?

Books. Lots and lots of books.

Also Jewellery, chocolates, wine, money, flowers, smellies for the bath, toiletries all the usual stuff really but I'm really pleased about all the books.

What did everyone else get?

  • A 20 monitor that has built-in speakers. My old monitor was 13 and something blew so I had no color. It also had external speakers that no longer worked. I'm in 7th heaven now that I have color and can hear videos now!

  • Several books!

  • A $50 gift card to Pet Smart for my animals.

  • Bottle of wine. I don't drink wine so I will give this to one of my friends that likes wine.

Yesterday, X mas eve, I got money.

Today, its only 10:40am and our festivities don't start up until 2pm so I dont know what I'll get yet.

My freind stopped over and brought me a huge dinner complete with a piece of pumpkin pie. He also stopped by the nursing home to pick up a gift a Senior wanted to give me. She knitted a beautiful scarf for me with matching mittens.

Nada, I think I've had more taken away, even.

Did you spend Christmas all alone Durandal?

I've spent Christmas alone before, when I was younger and my parents went away for Christmas. Actually, I enjoyed the peace and quiet. I had time with my mates and time alone, which I enjoy.

If you are alone and feeling sad, why not make a proactive choice and help out at a soup kitchen or visit an old folks home or a hospital? It might be a hard thing to contemplate but extra pairs of hands are always welcome and seeing how crap other people's lives are really changes your perspective on your own life. Hope that helps.

Hugs to you Durandal.

The usual XD

Upon reading this, my seemingly depraved mind thought it said strippers, not slippers; I was like Wow, that's Dragon Master gets as the usual?!

Yeah, Durandal had a solo Christmas, and the night before I was figuratively thrown under the bus by someone too, so it was even less merry than usual. I've helped the homeless out many times before, actually. Around here, with Voldemort as our Governor-elect (I'm serious, the guy looks like Voldemort...) and the state already waging a campaign against the homeless, there's hardly any place for them to go to anyway (and given certain limitations, I might not be welcome to help (no, I don't stalk little girls or anything - nothing criminal, merely practical...). I also have served for a PR department in a hospital and as a Deputy to a Member of a Board of Directors to a non-profit hospital that offers free service to patients. Unfortunately, I'm more or less starting to fall on the spectrum where I could be going to soup kitchens not to help out, but to get food...trust me, I've seen some pretty bad things that other people have suffered, and I have an appreciation for the challenges other people face.

I know it could be worse, it's not any situation I endure that bothers me, it's doing everything according to the 'rules', even applying myself as to detractors to my stance would, and doing things at a higher standard, and still losing anyway...

I'm surprised I got anything, I am at the age where I have to buy gifts for the kids and not expect to get any.

Anyway, I got $$$ from a couple different people.

My sweetest was from my sweet.

I showed him a Skagen ceramic white watch I loved this summer. Yeaaa, he remembered it!

Here it is -- and it looks better on the wrist:

On his own, he found an XOX tennis bracelet ... from Daniel's ... another favorite shop. (My friend works there and guided him.

It's beautiful and has some weight to it. Seems sturdy enough.

Christmas is like birthdays, so many surprises. However, I firmly remember this IS the birth of Jesus ... all praise and adoration. Amen.

Merry belated Christmas to everyone here. xox
