Yeah, I was happy to see a basic recipe for chili that is that simple and still looks pretty good. AND......easy enough to alter and tweak. There are things that you might want to add; I'm thinking already like some peppers??

So many recipes are complicated and take ALL FREEKING DAY! :cautious:

Yes peppers a great idea for the dish maybe hot Peppers my son eat spicy ... always have at home a bag of hot peppers in the freezer.

I also love more the simple recipes that take less time and not end up costing more than a restaurant no point cooking then ..

I tried that chili recipe today.
Followed the recipe EXCEPT: I cut the ingredients in half. And did not have any fresh garlic, so used 1 T. of garlic powder instead.
The instructions do not say to simmer covered or un-covered; so, I simmered with.......I think that's wrong because the chili turned out too thin.
So, I added a bit of flour & simmered longer UN covered.
Final taste test....I added a bit of onion powder.
Just spicy enough for me, so if I add hot peppers it would be for the pepper taste not for additional heat.
Next time I also might try a bit of ground cumin.

Pretty good! Husband approved; he says that it beats canned.
Gotta try this @Phillip; if you're not handy in the kitchen, maybe you can con friend or family into cooking a batch for you. :D

I prefer a mild chili. Sometimes grated cheese, crumbled crackers, tortilla chips or Fritos on top. Also goes very well with cornbread.

Same here, though I'll also throw in either cooked or raw onions, depending on my mood.

Anything I want except chili powder. I don't do well with spicy foods.
