What do you think about one of my plans to bring members into my forum?

I don't see why you can't just leave registrations open to everyone. Having to vote and then wait who knows how long is going to be a waste of their time as well as yours.

If i was thinking of joining you forum and have to petition to join, i wouldn't bother. I'd just move on as others have said. You would lose potential members, not gain any.

Forums are about new people joining. If you disable registrations, your forum will not grow.

Agreed. I personally do not like that idea, as it could throw off new members. I would not even THINK of joining a forum where you have to vote just to bring a feature back. It doesn't matter if you don't care about statistics, but if people want to post, they're going to be angry at you if you can't even let them register.
