What do you think about one of my plans to bring members into my forum?

I'm planning on doing something to my forum, after I get a certain member on there...



I'm planning on disabling registeration and just having a little community for me and my friends and increasing the post count.



Now my plan is... if the guests/lurkers wish to join..



They will have to vote on bringing the registeration button back.

They will have to do a petition in order to bring back registering on my forum.



I haven't done this on my forum yet, but it's my little plan.



I don't care much about your negative comments, I want the guests/lurkers to hunger for more and they must vote in the poll or whatever to bring back the registeration button

I'll just post interesting topics and posts with me and friends and people will notice, and try to register and BOOM. They will need to vote on bringing back the registeration button.

if its not easy to join a forum they will just say f*** it and move on................forums a 10 a penny......easy to just find another

Sounds like a good plan to kill a forum. I wouldn't waste my time for even 2 seconds. Like beowulf stated, forums are a dime a dozen and I would just move on.

especially since you are such a small forum................you have less than 10 members and only @360 posts......christ, ive been known to do that many in less than a day on my fave forum

I don't care about the statistics, really.



Even if I reach 1000 posts or more, I'm just going to post and show off any creations, add stuff to the forum and that's it.

Forums are about new people joining. If you disable registrations, your forum will not grow.

People should be able to join on their own free will. Having to vote for a registration button is a sure fire way to have your forum go down in flames. People will vote, then forget about your forum and there you go - back at square one.

The more interesting content and posts I have, eventually people will join.



I don't go f**king OCD when it comes to statistics and such unlike most.

for a forum to have lots of interesting threads it must have lots of active participating members



how is your forum going to have that if it is difficult for them to join in the first place?

If you want your forum to die quickly, do that. The members will get bored and leave.



A forum has to have new members. And if you have to vote in a poll to join, then I'm not going to join, as well as many others.

Do you think people will really do that? As people said forums are a dime a dozen.. People will just move on to the next forum without having a second thought about your forum.
