What should V.I.P membership have?

In your opinion what should V.I.P members have that other members don't? And what benefits do they get?

For the Elite Member group of my forum, they're able to lock their own threads, delete their own posts, be immune to warnings (as I know they're well-behaved) and having their name in a different colour.

I'd agree with Nebulous, although being able to delete their own posts

My sister belonged to a board where she would receive (small) checks in the mail. All under $10. However, she couldn't figure out how she got signed up to receive checks .... then she got married and moved. No more checks.

I agree with this. Once you start allowing VIP members to lock or delete posts, it can cause a huge problem. I've seen this happen on several forums. If a VIP didn't like what a regular member had to say, they would make a nasty remark and lock the thread. They, of course, would then delete their nasty remark so that the regular member couldn't report them. As far as VIP's being immune to a warning, you might as well give them an open invite to troll and flame other members. If you want a VIP to be able to lock and delete then they should be upped to staff rank.

It comes down to each forum owner's decision. You may be able to ask members of your forum what they want but it all comes down to what you think would be the best options for a paid or free 'exclusive' membership.

I think the Admin (Nebulous in this case) should send all the VIPs a special crown to wear with VIP or Elite emblazoned on it. He should send us each big, BIG presents for Christmas, Birthday, Valentine's, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, etc. and any other dates we feel are important. He should send us vouchers for Starbucks so we can buy a coffee and a cake on him as a regular treat on all special occasions (including Sundays!) and all the other 'non Elite/VIP' members should have to roll out a red carpet and go

whenever an Elite/VIP passes.



I think that's all for now.
