How do you all handle staff members that you trust after a period of time, that share secret information in hidden forums ( most likely the staff room of your forum ) with others?

Has this ever been an issue for those of you forum administrators out there?

Have you ever received secret information being a regular member?

How do you feel about staff-forum leaks?

I had this guy on another forum who was a moderator. He took a liking to me and started making advances. I told him politely that I was not interested. The next thing I knew he was copying, pasting and emailing me things going on in the staff area where other staff members were talking about me. The things I read were not true but at that point I just saved his emails and asked him to please stop and just leave me alone. He kept it up and I just kept saving the emails. I decided the only way it was going to end was by forwarding all his emails to the Admin (which I did). Not only was he demoted, he was banned from the forum.

Any staff member who would do something like he did, deserves to be banned. What goes on in the staff area, stays in the staff area period...end of discussion.

Hasn't happened to me

And I'm not telling any of you what we talk about behind your backs!

On an old forum I used to run, we used to have staff members that would leak information to our competitor forum and the other way around. The two forums were in a bit of a feud and it was hard to trust our own staff because we didnt know who was a spy and who wasn't. Although there wasn't really secret information in our hidden forums, it was just trash-talk and gossip being leaked mostly.

On the BBS I was staff on, when the SYSOP/Owner was the moderator of the staff forum- it was kept to business and user problems and discussions about how to solve problems.

When another staff member was made the mod of that thread and he went to work on a major upgrade, it went to hell and it ended up being a discussion of which married user was doing what to which other married user on the side.

OMG! I'm sorry but that did make me laugh! What happened to that staff member?

What kind of information? You mean information regarding particular activities, concepts, or tweaking in positions, and if so, is it something that is so important that leaks can actually occur.

Anything posted in a staff-only forum can be deemed 'information' even if it isnt information.
