When you first join a forum, what are some things that you do to get better acquainted with the members and staff of that community?

I always start an introduction and then set up my avatar.

I usually start with reading the threads and posts, getting the sense of it :D then set up my avatar, signature if I feel like it, then post in the introduction thread

I hit the chat thread then read other threads.

We could always use more of those!

Happy to oblige.
I am here for ya.

It's like going to a party when you don't know anyone, invited by someone who you don't even know why they invited you except that you are a complete wallflower. You want to be impressive, especially to the person who invited you, but you have a track record of getting nosebleeds. I just want to hide in a corner for a long time, or have someone hold my hand. Later I'll go home and cry. Oh wait, I'm on a forum I'm supposed to present as someone I want to be, not who I am! What was the question again?

@Nebulous was and is still very welcoming when I first joined and told me this forum is all about being yourself. We’re a diverse group - everyone from different cultures and many of us neurodiverse (won’t name ofc ;) )

He’s that rare admin who’s super open-minded and unbiased. Just remember you are an amazing guy who’s built an amazing community @Nebulous 💕🥰💜

I'm new to the forum scene, so
I'm throwing up threads on very random subjects to see which ones get bites.

First I update my profile with my birth date, avatar and signature, then I introduce myself, and then start looking for interesting threads and start posting away!

Awesome

I personally start by lurking. If I see content that interests me I'll then move to registering and making an introduction. After all of that is done I immediately reply to the threads that caught my attention in the first place. From there hopefully I've started a good relationship with staff and members alike.

When I first join a forum, I try to engage with the entire community including staff members as well to know them more and see if the place has a positive vibe and a welcoming atmosphere for a new member. :)

I read a few threads i find the topic of interest. I look around for people i already know. I take in whether it's a friendly site. Then i post.
