hehehe I
the IOW too!
It has its good and its bad sides too though.
In summer everything is open late but you can't move for tourists.
In winter everything stays shut and we can be cut off from the mainland by severe winter storms.
The beaches are fantastic, mostly blue flag beaches.
The seas are clear and beautiful to bathe in.
The best time of the year, imo, is Easter. Several years ago the local school children were given sacks full of daffodil bulbs to plant where they pleased. At Easter the daffodils all bloom and everywhere you look there are embankments full of golden daffodils. It always warms my heart to see them. You look across the rolling green fields and see the blue sky dotted with lil white cotton wool clouds and it's just glorious! Also, the island is only just starting it's summer season trade so the tourists are pretty minimal and traffic is not too bad.
The worst thing on the island is that we have to import our water! Every single house is metered and every drop accounted for! And we're surrounded by water! Nuts, huh?
The biggest controversy for years has been whether we should have a bridge to connect us to the mainland or not.
There are many, many people like you, who come for a holiday and leave their hearts behind.
Many of them join island forums so they can see what's going on here, even if they can't be here. I read them occasionally, although not as much as I used to. Why don't you have a look at some of them?
