One that served our country with honor and respects our personal rights or one that is a embarrassment and claims racism for her own stupid decisions.

Ron DeSantis.

Why? Say whatever you want about the man - and God knows there's plenty - but I can't recall a single time he's gone back and changed his view on anything. He just charges through, undeterred by both the opinion of the day AND the powers that be.

And I’ve enjoyed it. While other states were in lockdown we were traveling the state on the weekends and enjoying ourselves.

Continuing on, another politician I respect is our own state's governor, Roy Cooper.

Unlike other cross-party governors who bend over to the legislators in other states (looking at you Charlie Baker or Larry Hogan) Cooper - a Democratic governor in a state w/a Republican legislature - won't let them get away with stuff elsewhere. Case in point: Republicans bitched and moaned for two years about the state not having an official budget from 2019-2021, trying to blame Cooper for it.

What they didn't tell anyone was that the reason he vetoed it was because they were trying to legislate through the budget by adding non-budgetary items into the budget as poison pill items. Cooper saw through it and vetoed it (in case you're wondering: the state continued running on the budget passed in 2018; legislators finally got around to doing their job and passing a budget without that stuff in it last year).
