Why are so many of them being created lately?

None are bound to get as big as ForumPromotion, and I've quit using promotion forums, because your promotion threads are only getting viewed by those trying to promote. Very rarely will they register.

So I'm doing things the organic way this time. Dropping my link where I can and hoping people will click and join.

I agree although its what you do to start with

It's always been this way, there's atleast 5-10 popping up each week, but the funny thing is, i don't see them around in a few weeks time.

That's because they lose help.

I could see many of them being created picking up the slack of competitors. With interesting features, etc, but they all offer the same thing. Why not just stick with one?

They are usually opened by people with failed forums who are desperate to have a forum with a large member base to be in control of. When they finally see that success it doesn't happen overnight, even with an advertising forum, they close it.

I know... It's bad business. Wasting up server space for nothing.

Promotional forums are very stupid, and they are just copies of the bigger ones. I am actually giving it a crack, and I am wasting my times.

I think that I do not enjoy creating forums anymore, I would rather be a staff member on one. There is far too much work being an administrator.

Also - DanteX it is not really easy to come up with your own idea mate, it is so hard. Especially since if you think of an idea and then google it - it's not your idea - it was done by Mike in 2004. It is annoying, very.

Well it isn't.

Make a forum about your passions. View your competitors, and do 5X better than them.

Basically, don't be intimidated by competition.

You never know, there might be a person out there that is capable to get a promotion forum as big as FP.

It seems to me people see the success of larger promotion forums and then want that success so they imitate it. However there isn't much one can bring to a promotion forum's table and therefore they usually fail. Need to just leave it to the main big ones.

Of course, Sunny, forums can grow big. But with correct promotion. Nothing unnatural.

Promotional forums are hell to run. I was a package staff and reviewer. The people that do post more on those sites just do for packages, or some other benefit, not usually because they generally like the site. They don't do a lot for your site either. The only people viewing your link are generally too busy with their own forum to come join yours.

I've also been seeing a lot of non-focus forums recently too.

People think that promotion forums will get thousands of posts only because people want their forums to get big, and then realise that most come, post 1 post, order some services and that is all they do, they dont contribute.

Heck.. its kinda like with the Forum board boom back in like what 2004 or 2005? One thing gets started and suddenly everyone else wants to do it.

That is true as well (and I do suppose I'm a culprit of that myself). I think this happens as either people come in thinking they have a unique focus but then it doesn't pan out so they just do everything! Or people just can't think of a focus and leave it open ended.

I agree. There are loads of promo forums out there but I don't think half of them will even succeed. I have three promortional forums I'm a member of, and I'm sticking to those three and am not going to join up with anyone else. Actually, I'm thinking of dropping one out of the three, as I do not feel it will get anywhere as there are too many others just like it. So yeah, sorry if I didn't make sense.

Remember, guys, that people who do post exchanges, order posting packages and other forum related services are not at your site because they are inclined in the genres, but are there because they are obligated to be there. And to say the least, those are non-returning members. They come, post the needed amount of posts and leave.

To say the least, the content is not original. If they do not know about the topics discussed, it's either found through WikiPedia, or another Google searched source. Nothing is original - and I learned my lesson with post exchanges. That's my last resort, because when things are not organic, members realize that, and that'll throw them off.

I know I for one want to break my habit of relying on some services. Even if it means just bumping up my topic when the time is allowed. I know we got to do things the right way, which means advertising through search engines, and just trying to keep content up-to-date and not letting the forum die out. We got to try to be unique as we possibly can. People should only join up out of interest, not because they have to because of a post exchange or a package, although I will still request packages up until a certain amount of time.
