Yes, hate to say it. Social media did forever ruin forums. It is hard enough to run a forum in 2022 unless you do some Facebook or Twitter advertising type stuff.Unfortunately social media forever ruined forums, because forum etiquette disappeared when social media took over, and so many of the youngsters joining forums now were raised on social media "etiquette" where anything goes and you just need to say and do whatever you can to get attention. Until that goes away, it's sadly going to forever hold forums back from being what they once were.
Agreed, there's no way around it anymore, social media destroyed independent communication in favour of centralized systems like Twitter, FB, etc. You have to work with them to have any chance anymore, and it's awful that that's how it works.Yes, hate to say it. Very hard to keep them around! It is no easy feat at all for anyone and don't blame people closing forums nowadays.Agreed, there's no way around it anymore, social media destroyed independent communication in favour of centralized systems like Twitter, FB, etc. You have to work with them to have any chance anymore, and it's awful that that's how it works.
Absolutely agreed, unless they're extremely passionate and fine with a small community it's just hard to justify carrying on.Very hard to keep them around! It is no easy feat at all for anyone and don't blame people closing forums nowadays.
A few people had ago at me for closing Pulse, I literally lost their support, But they need to realise not all forums become a hit and they cost money.Very hard to keep them around! It is no easy feat at all for anyone and don't blame people closing forums nowadays.
No one will care if I shut down my forum since a majority of the people who said they'd use it only have done so once and then never logged in again. Yes, forums do cost money to run. I paid for my VPS hosting for 1 year and will likely close end of year since I feel it's not worth it.A few people had ago at me for closing Pulse, I literally lost their support, But they need to realise not all forums become a hit and they cost money.
People complain about these sites being control freaks but they all let them dominate the internet.
I'm sorry to hearNo one will care if I shut down my forum since a majority of the people who said they'd use it only have done so once and then never logged in again. Yup, it is a bit sad but was expecting it. I just feel like since no one but me and 1-2 people use it there's zero point to it staying up.I'm sorry to hear![]()
I am sure I could but finding the right niche with how much the internet has changed nowadays is rough. Gaming forums just are not the in thing anymore, and don't think forums about any sort of game will take off either. If it does, it'd be a small community which is fine by me.That definitely sucks, but you could turn that around and start a new one project, something different. You might find a niche that takes off!
Yeah smaller communities are better, imo. Huge communities lose their communal feel, you can't keep up with everyone and it feels impersonal.I am sure I could but finding the right niche with how much the internet has changed nowadays is rough. Agreed, so long as social media exists, it's just impossible.Forums will never be the same. Some Social Media have forum features but you still have to register your Google, Facebook, or Instagram account.
My Discord server is about as dead as my forum is, to be quite honest.Sad honestly, people prefer to make a boring Discord and be done with it now.
