Interior designer Marte Deborah Dalelv was on a business trip in Dubai when she says she was raped.

The 24-year-old reported the March attack to the police but found herself charged with having extramarital sex, drinking alcohol, and perjury.

Update:

A Norwegian woman in a rape case in Dubai said on Monday she was pardoned and allowed to fly home after having been convicted of extramarital sex in the Muslim emirate. Twenty-four-year-old Marte Dalelv had been sentenced to 16 months in prison.

Probably the best outcome she could've hoped for.

That article seems to suggest thing will change in the future*, I have my doubts... Maybe someday.

Dubai has fucked-up laws anyway, so this is no surprise. I remember a couple got imprisoned for kissing in public :facepalm:
