So I ordered an HTC Touch Pro2 about 3 weeks ago from a website that sells items at less than retail (they buy direct from the manufacturer) . I paid $500 for it and it retails for $800. However, when it finally arrived today (after being delayed for 2 weeks), I found out its not the phone I ordered, but that of an HTC Touch2 worth only $350. I've emailed the website and will not receive a reply until Monday - that means I have to wait all weekend. (all prices in NZ dollars)



I don't know whether or not I'm allowed to use the phone... I currently have no phone and am not willing to wait 3 weeks for a new one without having a phone to use in the meantime.



What do you suggest I do?

Kas, I would NOT use this phone. Once you do, you are accepting this lesser value phone. Is there no customer service number that you can call instead of waiting for an email response? It's frustrating that you not only waited so long but then you received the wrong phone. I, however, would be willing to wait to get the phone I paid for. I would explain to them you have no phone and that you expect the correct phone be shipped to you ASAP or you will ask for a full refund. Good luck with this and let us know what happens!
 
Their phone number is only operational between Monday and Friday from 9am - 5pm.



The packaging has already been ripped open, cos dad decided he would put it on the charger when it showed up (I was at work all day yesterday).

Oh noes! Have you been using the phone? You might as well at this point.

I guess the only thing you can do now is ask for the difference in price refund.

Like I said before, I'm not willing to wait another three weeks for my actual phone to arrive so I will probably ask for a partial refund and simply keep this one. It's not the one I originally had in mind but it's better than nothing.

They shouldn't have a problem giving you the partial refund. I'm glad you now have a phone even though it wasn't the one you wanted.
 
I got a call from the general manager today... I can keep the phone and receive a partial refund. He said he will get one of his customer service ladies onto emailing me details tomorrow and the refund should be in my bank account within the next couple of days.
